Xiaoran Liu is an economist who measures things with language models and checks the results against ground truth. PhD in Economics, Nanyang Technological University (December 2026). B.A. in Economics and Applied Mathematics, UC Berkeley. Research on where generative AI is used and what it replaces, and on measuring culture and institutions from text.
